If you plan on getting married in Oregon you must have a marriage license issued in Oregon.

A Washington marriage license is not valid in Oregon. You do not have to be a resident of Oregon to obtain a marriage license.

Oregon Marriage License

Licenses are issued only by the county clerk and may be used anywhere within the State of Oregon. To obtain a license, the man and woman must complete and sign an application. If either party has divorced within the last 3 years they will need to show the decree to the clerk. Same sex marriages are not recognized by legal definition in Oregon.

Age Requirements: Both applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older. Persons 17 years of age must have parent or guardian's consent. No one under the age of 17 may marry; there are no exceptions.

Waiting Period: 3 Days Waiting Period. The county Clerk may waive the waiting period upon request. (We perform many same day marriages.)

Residency: None

Cost: $60.00 and is valid 60 days from date of issue and is valid anywhere in Oregon. An Oregon license is NOT valid in the state o Washington. Officiates must file the marriage application within 10 days of the ceremony. It is Church House policy to file applications the same or following day. A certified copy of the filed license application is required by insurance companies, bank, passport, DMV and Social Security. Marion County charges $4 for a certified copy, however fees may vary by county. The Marriage License fee is $60 statewide.

Clark County

Licenses: may be obtained at the Recording/Marriage License Department at the Clark County Courthouse, First Floor. Both bride and groom must be present to apply for a marriage license. Proof of divorce from a previous spouse or death of a spouse is not required to obtain a license for a new marriage. Same sex marriages are not recognized in the State of Washington at this time. Age Requirements: Both applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older. Applicants who are 17 years of age must be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian who can provide consent. Applicants under the age of 17 must obtain permission from the Juvenile Court. Blood tests and physical exams are not required to obtain a marriage license.

Waiting Period: 3 Days -Waiting period begins the first day after you apply for your license and ends the third day following the date of application. You may not get married during this waiting period (Oregon will waive the 3 day waiting period). Oregon License.

Identification Required: Current photo ID as proof of identification and age.

Cost: $46. The nonrefundable fee is payable at the time of application. Payment must be made in cash. Checks and credit cards are not accepted at this time. License is valid anywhere in the state of Washington for 60 days from time of issue

Certified Copies: $3.00 each and photocopies are $1.00 each.
